Excellent shots, Wayne! This is also called the Purple Gallinule, one of my favorite birds!

I might not be the right person to say this but the rules of the forum are no more then 1 pic posted every 48 hours and images must be 750 pixels or less on the long side. If I were you, I would leave the bottom pic, that is the better of the two. With the top shot, you cut off his toe!

They may be Gallinule in the US, but in Australia they are know as Swamp Hens and in NZ as the Pukekohe.

I took these at a wetland across the road from my house.

Oh, I didn't cut off the toe. If you zoom out a bit you will see the whole bird as shot.

Lovely image ,but the crazy foot half out of the water makes this image for me
